As creative musicians in the 21st century, we can literally DIY anything.
But in the process of doing everything ourselves, we often lose something crucial that comes with mentorship and collaboration.
And yes, we can learn all the cool tricks from all the cool cats, but...
We still have to find our own voice.
And if you want to develop an inspired musical voice you can’t just focus on WHAT to do.
You have to learn HOW to think.
As you learn how to think strategically, then you can really play with intention.
As you learn how to access metacognition and flow, then you can really connect in the present moment and tell a story as you improvise.
Too many musicians believe that playing with deep intention and connection is only possible because of phenomenal innate talent, thousands upon thousands of practice hours, or some mystical or substance-induced inspiration. None of that is true.
You can actually practice the mental game of music just like you can practice an instrument.
You can organize your inner programming just like you can cleanup your computer desktop.
And as you optimize your cognition, you can really become that listening, interacting, creative and connected musician you want to be.
Don’t let gatekeepers make you feel unworthy.
Sure, the greatest musicians in the world have truly special talent and drive that sets them apart,
but that does NOT mean you don’t deserve to have a distinct musical voice, and make your dream projects a reality.
Too many musicians carry the weight of the lineage of masters as a burden.
That is not a burden–it’s a gift, given to us generously. Their music literally lives inside us.
To have an inspired relationship with music is to receive music as a gift, as an inspiration,
and to lean into being empowered, not beleaguered.
My program is here to help you transform:
- Overwhelm
to organized strategic thinking
- Practicing randomly
to practicing effectively
- Regurgitating what you “should” play,
to expressing with intention
- Performing with anxiety and something to prove,
to connecting genuinely with bandmates and listeners
- Self-doubt and judgmental comparisons,
to an authentic personalized expertise grounded in a healthy and inspired relationship with music
I created the Inspired Contemporary Pianist so you can have both a systematized and individualized process with me as your guide and the support of a like-minded community.
If this resonates and you are ready for a multi-month commitment,
book a call with me and we’ll see if it’s a good fit.
(It's just me! No pushy sales tactics or urgent texts blowing up your phone!)
Pianists who are in a rut,
practicing and playing the same way you’ve played for years,
but unclear on how to evolve.
Come to get un-stuck.
Pianists who have gotten jaded about a career in music
because you constantly have to sound like someone else.
Come to break free from feeling jaded.
Pianists who know what it takes to be a good musician,
but you’re not just trying to be a cog in a machine–
you have something unique to offer as a performer, composer, band leader.
Come to connect to your purpose.
Pianists who get through music school and come out with:
too much generalized knowledge and not enough personalized skill;
the ability to recreate other people’s music more than create your own;
no ongoing mentorship as you build your career.
Come to achieve your goals.
Pianists who struggle in improvisation with
keeping track of the song form, listening closely to your bandmates,
and developing your ideas so your improvisation is authentic, dynamic, and fresh every time...
Come to get off the struggle bus.
Pianists who learn all the cool stuff from great players and content creators,
but when you actually play it’s like you’re just grabbing for tricks instead of playing from the heart...
Come to develop your ability to play with intention.
